L to R: 'The Kiss' lip scrub, 'Unicorn Horn' bubble car, 'Prince Charming' shower cream, 'Roses all the Way' soap, 'Lover Lamp' bath bomb. |
'THE KISS' LIP SCRUB
Lip scrubs are an essential part of any winter skin care routine, and especially useful to keep your lips extremely 'kissable' around Valentine's Day. 'The Kiss' is a sugar and sea salt scrub which contains decorative red hearts and is completely edible, and to me, tastes very much like Love Heart sweets - how fitting! I find the scrub is a slightly lighter texture and not as grainy as the other all year round scrubs (perhaps due to the mix of finer sea salt with sugar?). However it does what it says on the tin and is great at removing dead skin.
'UNICORN HORN' BUBBLE BAR
'Unicorn Horn' has returned for another year, however this time it goes pink in the water, rather than lilac, and does not deposit small stars everywhere due to their withdrawal from the design. Lavender, neroli and ylang ylang scented, this pastel bubble bar creates plenty of bubbles and works best if the whole 'horn' is crumbled into the bath at once.
Once crumbled into the water the bar develops a beautifully delicate floral smell, something I was surprised by as I initially found the bar too strong out of the water.
'LOVER LAMP' BATH BOMB
'Lover Lamp' is a new addition for Valentine's Day this year. Brazilian orange oil and vanilla make up its principle scent base and create a smell, which to me, is similar to a chocolate orange. It also has red hearts which are cocoa butter melts encased within the top of the bomb and can be rubbed directly onto the skin. These hearts are especially good for combating dry skin, something which is always a problem at this time of the year.
As you can see from the picture above, the bomb also contains tiny confetti hearts which are a really pretty touch, and the opaque white water means they really stand out. This bath bomb is not as 'wow' as 'Intergalactic' or 'Yoga Bomb' but is still a very pretty one with a beautiful scent.
'ROSES ALL THE WAY' SOAP
It contains Turkish rose petal infusion, as well as rose oil and rose syrup, meaning it has a very prominent rose scent (it is also the same smell as the 'Rosy Cheeks' face mask). Rose is great for reducing redness, but it is also very luxurious and perfect for Valentine's Day, due to the connotations it possesses which relate it to romance.
The soap also contains kaolin. This means it is great for cleansing the skin and is also slightly scrubby - especially useful if you suffer from dry, flaky skin on your hands, or body which you would like to remove.
'PRINCE CHARMING' SHOWER CREAM
Prince Charming has returned for 2016! This year however, it is a shower cream, which means it has a cocoa butter base. Due to this it is really moisturising and great for combating the drying effect of winter weather.
The scent, I find, is rather fruity but also creamy. The marshmallow root and vanilla pod infusion give the shower cream its lovely, thick texture, whilst pomegranate juice gives it the fruity edge. It creates a lovely lather in the shower and really feels like it is giving your skin a deep cleanse; the scent also stays with your skin after which is a nice touch.
I am yet to try it as a bubble bath, but it would be interesting to see if it makes a good bubble bath as 'The Comforter' shower cream does.
And there we have it, Lush's 2016 Valentine's Day collection. A lovely mix of fruitiness and sweetness, which is perfect for keeping skin soft during these winter months, and treating either your significant other or yourself.
